PIP: "Insert Field" Dialog Box Appears Unexpectedly When You Open Project (269307)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a project in one of the programs listed at the beginning of this article, an Insert Field dialog box may appear unexpectedly.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if both of the following conditions are true:
  • You create a mail-merge file in the project.
  • You close the project without saving the mail-merge file.

RESOLUTION

To dismiss the Insert Field dialog box:
  1. On the menu bar, click Mail Merge.
  2. Click Cancel Merge.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
