SYMPTOMS

Direct3D performance may not be as fast as you expect when you run Windows 2000 on a computer with an Intel Pentium 4 CPU.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the version of Direct3D that is included with Windows 2000 does not properly identify Intel Pentium 4 processors and does not fully implement the performance optimizations that are available only on Pentium 4 processors.

RESOLUTION
