ICA Browser Occasionally Hangs with Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Service Pack 6 (269214)

SYMPTOMS

After you apply Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition, Service Pack 6 (SP6), any of the following symptoms may occur:
  • Users may not be able to access information on servers by using either Citrix Server Administrator or Terminal Server Administrator. This behavior may occur sporadically.
  • Csrss.exe processes may not terminate properly after a client session logoff. These orphaned Csrss.exe processes stop responding (hang) until you reboot the server.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows NT 4.0 Server, Terminal Server Edition service pack that contains this fix.

WORKAROUND

As a workaround, you can reboot the server, or revert to Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition, Service Pack 5.
