Disconnected List Members Are De-Referenced by the Connector Space List Object (269208)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Metadirectory Services 2.2

This article was previously published under Q269208

SYMPTOMS

When you delete a user object that is a member of a list from the Metaverse, and then re-synchronize the list by using a management agent (MA), an alias to the object appears in Connector Space under the list object. The alias points to a non-existent Metaverse object. The attributes for the object are zcLdapUser (if you imported this user from a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol [LDAP] directory), zcExcludedAliasThing, and Top.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the member object is actually an alias to the disconnector object; when you view this, the member alias is actually one which is "de-referenced." This de-reference only occurs after the metadirectory is updated. After this update occurs, the Connector Space list object contains the alias object for the de-referenced list member.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
