When you click an icon by pressing the wheel button on one of the Microsoft IntelliMouse pointing devices that are listed in the "Applies to" section, the pointer may be displayed as an X. The X indicates that you cannot click that icon.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you do not configure the wheel button to perform a single primary mouse click or a double-click action.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the IntelliPoint software to configure the wheel button to perform a single primary mouse click or a double-click action.

Mac OS X

  2. Click the Buttons tab.
  3. To assign a function to the wheel button, press the wheel button.
  4. Under Select a command, select Click, Double-click, or Triple-click.

Earlier than Mac OS X

  1. Click the Apple menu, point to Control Panel, and then click IntelliPoint.
  2. Click the Buttons tab.
  3. To assign a function to the wheel button, press the wheel button.
