SYMPTOMS

When you install the Microsoft SideWinder Game Controller software, you may be prompted with a blue screen to insert a Microsoft Windows CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive even though the Windows CD-ROM is already in the CD-ROM drive.

You may also receive an error message similar to one of the following error messages:
  • GDF Failure
  • _setup Failure

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the SideWinder Game Controller software setup program does not prompt you to insert the SideWinder Game Controller software CD-ROM after the Windows files are copied from the Windows CD-ROM.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, insert the SideWinder Game Controller software CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive after the Windows files are copied from the Windows CD-ROM.
