IntelliType: Unable to Install IntelliType Pro Software on Compaq Computers (268898)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install one of the Microsoft keyboards listed in the "Applies To" section on a Compaq computer, you may not be able to install the Microsoft IntelliType Pro software.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if software for the Compaq Internet keyboard is installed on the computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, disable or uninstall the software for the Compaq Internet keyboard, and then install the newest version of the IntelliType Pro software.

To disable the software for the Compaq Internet keyboard, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig.exe in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Click the Startup tab.
  3. Click to clear the following check boxes, and then click OK:
    • CPQEASYACC
    • EACLEAN
    • CPQINET
  4. When you are prompted to restart the computer, do so.
