MCIS 2.5 Setup Fails When Site Server 3.0 Service Pack 2 Is Not Installed (268810)

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Microsoft Commercial Internet System (MCIS) 2.5 Setup program, you may receive a message that setup cannot continue because Site Server 3.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2) is not installed. This occurs even if subsequent service packs are installed.

CAUSE

The Setup program checks for a registry value that is set by Site Server 3.0 SP2. If this value is not present, setup cannot continue.

WORKAROUND

Perform one of the following tasks:
  • Install SP2 before you install the current Site Server service pack.-or-

  • Using Regedt32, select the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Site Server\3.0\

    Build the following key structure:

    Hotfix\Site Server 3.0 Service Pack 2

    Add the following value:

    Installed
    Type: Reg_Dword
    Data: 3 (hex)
