Works: Page Border Section Is Clipped or Missing (268735)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works 6
- Microsoft Works 7.0
This article was previously published under Q268735 SYMPTOMS
When you format a page border in a Microsoft Works Word Processor document, the top and bottom border may be clipped or missing.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if you use a header or footer on the document, and the header or footer is close enough to the edge of a document to push the border into the unprintable region of a document.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, make sure that the header and footer do not force the page border outside the printable region of your printer. Note You can determine the printable region of your printer from the documentation provided with your printer.
To adjust the distance that a header or footer is placed from the edge of a Works Word Processor document, follow these steps:
- On the File menu, click Page Setup.
- On the Margins tab, under From Edge, select the distance that you want from the top of the page in the Header box.
- Select the distance that you want from the bottom of the page in the Footer box.
- Click OK.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Works 6. MORE INFORMATION
The page border always goes above a header and below a footer. Most inkjet and laser printers have an unprintable region near the top and bottom of a page.
The unprintable region can vary from 0.25" to 0.75" from the edge of the page, and can depend on the mechanical limitations of the paper transport in the printer or on the printer driver that is installed on your computer.
