ENT2001: You Cannot Specify an IMAP Server Location for a New Folder When You Use Rules (268699)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Entourage 2001 for Mac
  • Microsoft Exchange Update for Entourage X (Office v. X 10.1.4 Update)

This article was previously published under Q268699

SYMPTOMS

If you use Entourage as a client on an Internet Messaging Access Protocol (IMAP) server, you cannot create a new folder on the server when you create a rule. If you attempt to create the new folder on the server, the folder is created in the local Entourage message store.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, create the new folder before you create the rule. To do this:
  1. Click the server or local folder under which you want to create the subfolder.
  2. On the File menu, click New, and then click either Folder or Subfolder.
  3. In the New Folder box, type a name for the new folder, and then click Create.
Click Folder to place the new item at the entry level of the existing, default folder structure, often referred to as the server root. You can use the Subfolder option to create the new item within an existing folder.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
