ENT2001: Unable to Edit a Received Message and Change it to HTML Format (268685)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to edit a message that you receive in plain text format, you cannot change the message format to Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) format. The option to change the message to HTML format is not available on the Format menu.

CAUSE

In Entourage, all messages that you edit are converted to plain text format. This includes messages that have been sent.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, forward or reply to the message, and then type any text that you want. After you do this, the HTML option is available on the Format menu.

MORE INFORMATION

This behavior applies to messages in HTML format as well. When you open the a message in HTML format, you receive the following message:

Doing this will discard any text formatting. Do you wish to continue?

If you click OK, the message is converted to plain text format and other style attributes are removed.
