Entourage can send messages in either plain text and HTML formats. You can set either of these formats as the default format for all of your new messages.

How to Change Your Default Message Format

To change your default message format:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Preferences, and then click Mail & News.
  2. On the Compose tab, click either Plain Text or HTML in the Mail Format box, and then click OK.

How to Set Your Default Message Format for Individual Contacts

E-mail recipients may not be able to receive HTML messages or they may prefer plain text messages.

To specify HTML as your default message format for individual contacts:
  1. In the Folder List, click Address Book. If you do not see the Folder List, click Folder List on the View Menu.
  2. Click a contact, and then click New Message To.
  3. On the Format menu, HTML appears with a check mark next to if HTML is the default message format. To change the default message format to plain text, click to clear the HTML check box.
To specify plain text as your default message format:
  1. In the Folder List, click Address Book.
  2. Click a contact, and then click New Message To.
  3. On the Format menu, plain text appears with a check mark next to if plain text is the default message format. To change the default message format to HTML, click to clear the Plain Text check box.
