ENT2001: Attachments Are Not Imported from Eudora Messages (268661)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Entourage 2001 for Mac
This article was previously published under Q268661 SYMPTOMS
When you try to import messages from a previously installed version of Qualcomm Eudora, the messages are imported without their attachments.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because Eudora separates the attachments when you receive them. When Entourage converts messages during the import process, it only converts the message body.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, retrieve the attachments from the Eudora Attachments folder.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
When Eudora decodes a message, the attached files are placed in an Attachments folder. Depending on your version of Eudora, this folder is located in either the Apple Macintosh System Folder or in the Application folder. You can set the Attachments folder to a custom location.
A similar import process exists between Claris Emailer version 2.0 and Entourage. Emailer places decoded attachments in a folder named "Downloads" (without quotation marks). Entourage only converts the message body from the Emailer Download folder.
NOTE: You cannot import e-mail messages from Emailer version 1.1 to Entourage.
