Active Directory Schema Snap-in Does Not Connect to the Operations Master (268655)

When you add the Active Directory Schema Manager snap-in to the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), the snap-in does not connect to the Operations Master under certain conditions. If you attempt to view the permissions on the schema, you may receive the following error message:
Could not connect to the current schema master server. The server may not be available, or you may have insufficient privileges to manage the schema.
If you attempt to view or change the Operations Master, you may receive the following error message:
The server is currently offline.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, click the plus sign (+) to expand the hive, and then connect the snap-in to the Operations Master. After the hive has been expanded, the Operations Master can be contacted.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.
