XCCC: Error Message Occurs When Creating the Conference Calendar Mailbox (268580)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server

This article was previously published under Q268580

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to create the Site Conference Calendar mailbox, you may receive the following error message:
Exchange Conferencing
An Error Was Encountered While Creating the Conference Calendar Mailbox

The requested operation did not satisfy one or more constraints associated with the class of the object.

CAUSE

When you create the Site Conference Calendar mailbox, Exchange 2000 Server creates a folder named "Conferencing" in the Microsoft Exchange System Objects folder in the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in. Specific attributes and permissions are applied to this folder so that the system can successfully read the folder and write to it. If a folder or user named "Conferencing" already exists in this location, the Site Conference Calendar is unable to create the required Conferencing folder that is associated with the Calendar mailbox, and the error message that is described in the "Summary" section is generated.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, move the conflicting object to a different organizational unit by using the Active Directory Users and Computers Manager snap-in (for example, the Users organizational unit), or rename the existing Conferencing object.

MORE INFORMATION

If the Microsoft Exchange System Objects folder is not displayed, follow these steps:
  1. Start the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.
  2. On the View menu, click Advanced Features and Options.
