The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Media Player 7
- Microsoft Windows Media Player 7.1
This article was previously published under Q268504 SUMMARY
You can use the CD Audio feature of Windows Media Player to play and copy music from CDs. When you insert a music CD, Windows Media Player automatically starts to play the content unless Windows Media Player is already in use or you have installed another program to play audio CDs.
You can also copy tracks from your music CDs to your hard disk. You can copy these tracks in a compressed format so that less hard disk space is used. After you copy CD tracks to your hard disk, you can play the content in your preferred order, without manually changing the CD to access the various tracks or CDs. You can also create a customized list of songs called a playlist that you can arrange to your liking.
