- Microsoft Excel 2001 for Mac

When you create a calculated column in a list, the formula you use is propagated in every cell in the column relative to the first cell in the column, not the cell in which you attempt to type the formula.
CAUSE
When you select Calculated Column as the data type in the Column Settings dialog box, the column is selected with the top cell made the active cell, which is where the formula is entered.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use formula references that apply to the first row in the list.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
