WD2001: Nothing Happens When You Click Online Registration on OS 8.1 (268411)

On the Macintosh operating system (OS) 8.1, when you click Online Registration on the Microsoft Word 2001 Help menu, your Web browser may fail to start as expected. You may experience a brief flicker in the Finder and then a return to Word. You receive no message.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if you are using the Macintosh OS 8.1, and a Web browser has not been installed on your computer. NOTE: If you are using the Macintosh OS 8.6 or 9.0, when you click Online Registration on the Help menu, one of the following behaviors occurs:
- If a Web browser is installed and correctly configured on your computer, the Web browser starts and goes directly to the Microsoft Online Registration Web page.
- If a Web browser is not installed or not correctly configured on your computer, a message appears asking if your computer is set up for the Internet.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, install a Web browser on your computer.
Install Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 from Compact Disc
To use the Microsoft Office 2001 Macintosh Edition compact disc to install Internet Explorer 5, follow these steps:
- Insert the Office 2001 compact disc into your computer's CD-ROM drive.
- In the Microsoft Office 2001 window, drag the Internet Explorer 5 folder to your hard disk.
- Open the Internet Explorer 5 folder on your hard disk, and then double-click the Internet Explorer 5 icon.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
