When you use Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition to open a workbook that was created in Microsoft Excel 2001 for Mac, you may receive
the following error message:
This file has unicode characters that could not be converted to the
active codepage. Since some data has been lost, the workbook is being
marked read-only.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install the Combined Updater for Office 98. This update is available at the following Microsoft Web site:
