PPT2001: Animated GIFs Have a White Background When Run (268406)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Macintosh
This article was previously published under Q268406 SYMPTOMS
When you run a slide show in Microsoft PowerPoint, animated Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) files are displayed with a white background. However, when you view the GIF file in the Slide View window, the background is transparent.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because when you insert an animated GIF file from the Movies and Sounds menu, the GIFs are converted to movies, which results in the white background appearing during playback.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, insert the GIF as a picture.
To do so, follow these steps:
- On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File.
- Select an animated GIF from the Clipart\Animations folder.
- Click Insert.
