PPT2001: Append File Extension Check Box Is Unavailable When You Save Slide in Graphic File Format (268401)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Macintosh
This article was previously published under Q268401 SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to save a slide to any graphic file format (PICT, GIF, PNG, or JPEG), the Append file extension check box is unavailable (dimmed). No extension is appended to the end of the file name.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if you click the Save every slide check box (on the Edit menu, click Preferences, and then click the Save tab). When you select this check box, each file is saved to a folder. Folders should not have extensions, therefore this check box is unavailable.
RESOLUTION
To work around this behavior, follow these steps.
- On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
- On the Save tab, click the Save current slide only check box.
- Click OK to save settings.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
