This article was previously published under Q268396 SYMPTOMS
When you create a movie and save it in portrait orientation, and then insert the movie into a PowerPoint 2001 slide, you find that the movie appears in landscape orientation, and also appears larger than the current PowerPoint slide.
This problem only occurs when the movie has been saved in portrait orientation, and the current screen size option has been selected in the Make Movie settings.
CAUSE
PowerPoint Movies maintains the current page setup settings in regards to slide orientation when you save a movie with the current screen size option selected. If the movie is saved using specific size and orientation, then it is not resized.
RESOLUTION
Select the movie object, and then drag a sizing handle until the object is the shape and size you want.
When you select the movie object, sizing handles appear at the corners and along the edges of the selection rectangle.
You can also resize the movie object by a specific percentage:
- Select the movie object.
- On the Format menu, click Picture, and then click the Size tab.
- Under Scale, type the percentages you want in the Height and Width boxes. Note: To maintain the ratio between the object's height and width whenever you resize the object, select the Lock aspect ratio check box on the Size tab.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
