PPT2001: Movie and Sound Objects Play Immediately in PowerPoint Movies (268395)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Macintosh

This article was previously published under Q268395

SYMPTOMS

When you insert a sound or movie object into a slide within Microsoft PowerPoint, and then save the file as a PowerPoint Movie, the sound and movie objects play immediately and simultaneously, regardless of the animation order and timing options that you selected.

CAUSE

Custom animations are not supported for sound and movie objects in PowerPoint Movie files. All sounds and movies start when the slide starts and they will play concurrently with a background soundtrack where one has been specified.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, do not save the file as a PowerPoint Movie.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
