SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac, if you attempt to register an Office product by clicking Online Registration on the Help menu, each Office program displays different behavior as follows, and you cannot successfully perform online registration.

Microsoft Excel 2001 for Mac

The Online Registration command is available, but if you click the command, nothing happens.

Microsoft Entourage 2001 for Mac

The Online Registration command is available, but if you click the command, nothing happens.

Microsoft Word 2001 for Mac

The Online Registration command is unavailable (dimmed).

Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Mac

The Online Registration command is missing.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you do not have a Web browser installed and connected to the Internet on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install a Web browser on your computer. Microsoft Internet Explorer is available both on the Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac CD-ROM, and on the Internet. To install Internet Explorer 5, drag the Internet Explorer 5 folder from the Microsoft Office 2001 CD-ROM onto the hard disk.
