You can export Playlists from the Now Playing pane or the Media Library. To export a playlist for use in another media-playing tool, follow the steps for your version of Windows Media Player.

Windows Media Player 7.0, 7.1, and Windows Media Player for Windows XP

  1. Click the playlist you want to export, and then click Export Playlist to File on the File menu.
  2. In the Save As dialog box, click the folder that contains the playlist you want to export.
  3. In the File name box, type a descriptive name for your playlist, and then click OK. This file is saved with a .asx file extension.

Windows Media Player 9 Series

  1. Click the playlist you want to export, and then click Save Playlist As... on the File menu.
  2. In the Save As dialog box, select the folder where you want to save your playlist.
  3. In the File name box, type a descriptive name for your playlist, and then click OK. This file is saved with a .wpl file extension.
