The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works Suite 2000
  • Microsoft Works 6

This article was previously published under Q268217

SYMPTOMS

When you create a document in the Microsoft Word program in Microsoft Works Suite 2000 that contains text as well as a clip art object, and you then reopen the document, the clip art object may be missing. However, the text in the document is displayed properly.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you reopen the document in Microsoft Works 6 Word Processor.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this issue from occurring, open the document in the Word program in Works Suite 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

To open the document in Works 6 Word Processor, follow these steps:
  1. Start Word in Works Suite 2000.
  2. Create the document, and then insert the clip art object.
  3. On the File menu, click Save As.
  4. In the Save as type box, click Rich Text Format (*.rtf).
  5. In the File name box, type a name for your document, and then click Save.
When you save your file as a Rich Text Format (RTF) file, you preserve both the clip art object and the text. As a result, you are able to use the Works 6 Word Processor to successfully view both the object and the text in the document.
