Works: Document with Custom Paper Size Setting Is Not Preserved When You Print Document (268190)
The information in this article applies to:

- Microsoft Works 7.0

- Microsoft Works Suite 2003
This article was previously published under Q268190 SYMPTOMS
When you create a document in Microsoft Works Word Processor, and the document is set to use a custom paper size (for example, 8.5-by-13.5 inches), the document may be printed in standard letter-size dimensions, 8.5-by-11 inches.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the printer is still set to print on standard letter-size paper. Some printers can print only to specific paper sizes and cannot print to custom paper sizes. In such a case, if you select a custom paper size in Works Word Processor, the printer reverts to its default of 8.5-by-11-inch paper, or letter size.
Note If your printer can print to custom paper sizes, this behavior may not occur.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, set your printer to a standard paper size that is larger than the custom size document that you want to create. For example, if you want to print an 8.5-by-13.5-inch document, set the paper size to 8.5-by-14 inches (legal).
To set the paper size for a document in Works Word Processor, follow these steps:
- On the File menu, click Page Setup.
- Click the Source, Size & Orientation tab.
- Under Paper, in the Size box, click the paper size that you want, and then click OK.
