- Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition
This article was previously published under Q268146 If this article does not describe your hardware-related issue, please see the following Microsoft Web site to view more articles about hardware: SYMPTOMS
On a computer that has removable Universal Serial Bus (USB) or LS-120 floppy disk drives, you may see multiple floppy disk drives in My Computer. This behavior may occur when you plug in a USB or LS-120 floppy disk drive. The drive may appear in My Computer as both a 3.5-inch floppy disk drive (drive A) and as another drive letter.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the computer's BIOS is reporting that a floppy disk drive exists, so the controller is given resources by Windows.
RESOLUTION
Contact your computer manufacturer to inquire about obtaining a BIOS update for your computer.
