This article was previously published under Q268116 SYMPTOMS If you use one of the Microsoft pointing devices listed at
the beginning of this article in a game, the left SHIFT key on the keyboard may
seem to become locked in a shifted state. CAUSE This behavior can occur if you press and hold down one of
the arrow keys on the keyboard while you click a button on the pointing device
that you have assigned to a keystroke in the Mouse tool in Control Panel.
RESOLUTION To work around this issue, press the left SHIFT key to
unlock the key as soon as this symptom becomes apparent.
To prevent
this issue from occurring, do not change the default actions that are assigned
to the buttons on the pointing devices that are listed at the beginning of this
article. STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
