SYMPTOMS
If a domain controller loses connectivity to the forest, Knowledge Consistency Checker (KCC) generates multiple event ID 1566 entries. These entries look like this:

Event Category: Knowledge Consistency Checker
Event ID: 1566
Date: 11/20/1999
Time: 4:47:06 PM
User: N/A
Computer: Computer_Name
Description: All servers in site Site_Name that can
replicate partition Partition_Name over transport
Transport_Name are currently unavailable.
These events can quickly cause the event log to wrap.
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.
