Outlook includes script written in Visual Basic Scripting Edition (VBScript) that you can use to create custom Outlook forms. In both of these cases, this script is typically created by someone who wants to add functionality to a basic mail message or form.

When you open an item or click a control within an item you may encounter an error message that is caused by the custom script. These types of error messages indicate that the custom code cannot run. This can be caused by a programming error that was made in the custom script, or the script may require an additional component that is not installed on your computer.

To debug script errors, you must have a thorough knowledge of the specific script programming language and understand what the code is supposed to do. For most users, the best option is to simply click OK to acknowledge the error message.
