WD2000: Localized Field Format Switches in Word 95 Documents Are Incorrect in Word 2000 (268073)

Localized field switches in documents that were created in most localized versions of Word 95 (for example, Dutch, Swedish, or Italian Word 95) are not converted correctly to Word 2000.
NOTE: The problem does not occur when you use Word 2000 to open a document that was created in German, Spanish, or French Word 95.

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:
- Save the document in Rich Text Format (RTF) from Word 95.
- In Word 2000, manually search for and replace the incorrect field switches. This action can also be performed by using a recorded macro.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 2.
