SUMMARY

The Office 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1) full product compact disc (CD-ROM) and the Office 2000 SR-1a full product CD-ROM are both labeled "SR-1", making it difficult to visually determine which CD-ROM you are using. To determine whether you have SR-1 or SR-1a, you must look at the properties of the Data1.msi file on the Office 2000 SR-1 full product CD-ROM.

NOTE: This article does not apply to the Office 2000 SR-1 Update CD-ROM. If you installed base-level (the original) Office 2000 product and then installed the Office 2000 SR-1 Update, refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article to determine whether you installed the Office 2000 SR-1 Update or the Office 2000 SR-1a Update:

To determine whether you have SR-1 or SR-1a, compare the properties of the Data1.msi file in the root folder of the CD-ROM with the information in the table in step 6. To view the properties of the Data1.msi file, follow these steps:
  1. Insert the Office 2000 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
  2. If Office 2000 Setup begins, click Cancel and then click Yes to quit Setup.
  3. Double-click My Computer on the desktop.
  4. Right-click the CD-ROM drive where the Office 2000 CD-ROM is inserted, and then click Explore.
  5. Right-click Data1.msi in the left pane, and then click Properties.
  6. View the size listed for Data1.msi. You can determine whether the full product Office 2000 CD-ROM is SR-1 or SR-1a by referring to the following table.
