This article was previously published under Q267830 SYMPTOMS
If you are currently logged on to your computer with cached credentials and you make a remote access connection to a network that causes you to change your domain password, your local cached credentials may not be changed. This may cause you to be locked out of your computer because your password no longer matches the domain password.
CAUSE
Cached credentials are not updated if you log on locally and then log on to a domain and your password expires.
RESOLUTION
To avoid this problem, log on to the network before you log on to your computer locally.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
