A Background Picture on the Desktop Cannot Be Centered (267812)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition
This article was previously published under Q267812 SYMPTOMS
On a Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me) desktop, when your computer attempts to center a background picture that has either a .bmp or .jpg file extension, the picture does not center. However, your computer can tile or stretch the background picture.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the file name of the background picture contains an apostrophe.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, you can remove the apostrophe from the file name of the background picture. Or, if you want the background picture to be displayed without changing the background picture's file name, go to Picture Display and click either Tile or Stretch.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
