When you make a change to the custom settings in the properties of your scanner, and then click Defaults, the settings for the scanner may not change and the default values may not be restored.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you make a change to the custom settings in the properties of your scanner, and then click OK before you click the Defaults button. After you click OK, the Defaults button is unable to restore the property settings to what they were when you opened the property settings of your scanner.
NOTE: The Defaults button restores the settings for the properties to what they were when your scanner property settings were first opened. The Defaults button does not restore the defaults for the device.
