SYMPTOMS

When you try to use the net view command to view a different computer in the domain, you may receive the following error message:
An extended error has occurred

CAUSE

This issue can occur if time-synchronization issues on the client computer exist. Note that time-synchronization issues normally generate "Access Denied" error messages when you connect computers.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue after you verify that basic network connectivity exists, check the time on the client computer to ensure that it is synchronized with the time on the server. Verify that the time, date, and time zone are all correct. To manually force time synchronization on the client computer, open a command prompt, type the following line, and then press ENTER.

net time /domain /set
