Custom Settings Are Lost After Upgrading to Windows Millennium Edition (267156)

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade your computer to Millennium Edition (Me), your custom settings may be changed to the default setting. The following settings may be changed:
  • The Address toolbar settings on the Quick Launch toolbar.
  • The Links toolbar settings on the Quick Launch toolbar.
  • The Desktop toolbar settings on the Quick Launch toolbar.
  • The Auto hide setting for the Taskbar.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, restore the settings of the Address, Links, or Desktop toolbar by following these steps:
  1. Right-click an empty location on the Taskbar.
  2. On the menu, point to Toolbars.
  3. On the menu, click the toolbar you want to change.
  4. Re-input the custom settings for that particular toolbar.
To restore the Auto hide setting, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Taskbar and Start Menu.
  2. Click to select the Auto hide check box.
  3. Click OK.
