Printer Icon Is Dimmed in Image Preview from My Picture Folder After Upgrade to Windows Millennium (267128)

SYMPTOMS

When you are in Image Preview in the My Pictures folder on a computer that has been upgraded from Windows 98 Second Edition to Windows Millennium Edition, the printer icon is dimmed. This occurs when you have done a custom installation of MGI Software Corporation's PhotoSuite III. It does not occur if do a typical installation of PhotoSuite III.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when you associate certain graphics files with PhotoSuite III during the custom installation. As a result, the print function is disabled when you try to print the graphics files.

RESOLUTION

The resolve this behavior reassociate the appropriate file types with Image Preview so that the Print option is no longer greyed.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Install Windows 98 Second Edition.
  2. Do a custom installation of MGI Software Corporation's PhotoSuite III, and select all the file types that you want to associate with the program.
  3. Install Windows Millennium Edition.
  4. Open the My Documents folder, and then open the My Pictures folder.
  5. Open a graphics file.
