SYMPTOMS

In Windows Explorer, you may see your Universal Serial Bus (USB) video camera in the My Computer folder, but not the USB scanner.

CAUSE

Windows Explorer displays computer storage devices in the My Computer folder. A video camera is included in this list because it is considered to be a storage device. A scanner, however, is not considered to be a storage device, and does not appear in the My Computer folder.
