Dell Optiplex GX110 May Not Resume from Hibernate When Sierra Studios Half-Life Game Is Running (267047)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition
This article was previously published under Q267047 SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to resume your Dell Optiplex GX110 computer from hibernate mode, you may be unable to do so; or the computer may stop responding and display a black screen when you resume it. This occurs while you have the Sierra Studios Half-Life program running.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods: - If you are using Direct 3d hardware acceleration, click Half-Life on the taskbar to restore the game to full screen.
- If you are using software acceleration and you have no sound when you resume your computer, go to the Sierra Studios Half-Life menu, and then restart the Sierra Studios Half-Life program.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
If Half-Life is configured for Direct 3d hardware acceleration, hibernate mode may suspend the computer properly, but the game window may be just a black area when you resume the computer.
If software acceleration is enabled in Sierra Studios Half-Life, hibernate mode and resume may function properly, but the game may not have any sound when you resume the computer.
