When you use the Internet Connection Wizard to create an internet connection in the Online Services folder, you may receive the following error message:
The Internet Connection Wizard could not configure your computer for the Internet. You will need to manually setup your own TCP/IP protocols, Dial-Up networking and modem, ISDN Line or other device you use to dial out to your computer.
CAUSE
This issue can occur if you are creating a Prodigy or Earthlink Internet Services connection and you are already connected to the Internet using a Local Area Network (LAN) connection. The error occurs when you cancel out of the Install New Modem screen in the Internet Connection Wizard.
RESOLUTION
Many Internet service providers, such as Earthlink and Prodigy, provide software that requires you to have a modem to connect to the Internet. To resolve this issue, install a modem and then configure the software to use the modem to establish a connection to the Internet.
