Cannot Select .jpg When Saving Graphic from a Web Page with a Username and Password in the URL (266952)

In Internet Explorer, when you try to save a picture from a Web page you accessed through a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) that contains a username and password, you may find you can save the graphics only as a .bmp file, not as the original .jpg file format.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, upgrade to Internet Explorer 5.5 SP1.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, remove the username:password@ from the URL.
The authentication may not be required in the URL when it is cached by the browser or if it is not required on the current page.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
