SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me) and connect a scanner that has a "Scan button" (green or other color button) that is used to start an event, the Imaging selection is reset to the default of "Prompt for which program to run" the first time you press the Scan button to associate Kodak's Imaging program as the event or program to be launched.

NOTE: Not all scanners have the ability to launch an event from the Scan button.

WORKAROUND

This only happens on the initial selection for Imaging. To work around this:
  1. Right-click Scanner icon, and then click Properties to display the scanner Properties sheet.
  2. On the Events tab, click Scan Button from the Select an event list.
  3. Click Imaging from the Start this program drop-down list.
  4. Click OK to save the changes in the Scanner properties dialog box, and then close the Scanner properties dialog box.
  5. Right-click Scanner icon, and then click Properties to reopen the scanner Properties sheet. Click Imaging when you receive the prompt for program to run.
  6. Select Start this program in the Actions section, and then verify that Imaging is selected in the drop-down list.
  7. Click OK .
Subsequent system shutdowns or restarts do not change the setting. When you press the Scan button, the Imaging application launches, and then the scanner scans an image to Imaging.
