- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
This article was previously published under Q266795 SYMPTOMS When you press and hold the right SHIFT key, your mouse
buttons may not work as you expect. For example, to select a group of files in
Windows Explorer, you can press and hold the left SHIFT key, click the first
file, and then click the last file in the group to select the whole group.
However, if you press and hold the right SHIFT key, you may have to click two
times to select the group of files. CAUSE This problem occurs because mouse button messages are being
blocked when the left SHIFT key is held down.RESOLUTION To work around this problem, disable the
Shortcut option for Filter keys:
- In Control Panel, double-click Accessibility
Options.
- Under FilterKeys, click
Settings.
- Under Keyboard shortcut, click to clear
the Use shortcut check box.
STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
