To update an SR-1 administrative installation to SR-1a, you must create a new administrative installation, update it to SR-1a, and then copy over the Data1.msi file to your existing SR-1 administrative installation. Then you must recache the copy of Data1.msi onto each network client that has been installed from the original administrative installation.

How to Update the Administrative Installation to SR-1a

  1. Click Start, and then click Run. Type a command line similar to the following in the Open box:

    CD-ROM drive\Setup.exe /a

    where CD-ROM drive is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive.
  2. In the Microsoft Office 2000 Administrative Mode dialog box, type the CD Key, and then click Next.
  3. In the Microsoft Office 2000 End-User License Agreement dialog box, click I accept the terms in the License Agreement, and then click Next.
  4. In the Microsoft Office 2000 dialog box, type the path for your new SR-1a administrative installation, and then click Install Now. Do not specify the same folder as your original SR-1 administrative installation.
  5. Click OK when the installation is finished.NOTE: If you used an SR-1a CD to create this new administrative installation, skip step 6 and proceed to step 7.

    NOTE: If you did not update your original SR-1 administrative installation with the Outlook E-mail Security Administrative Update, skip step 7 and proceed to step 8.

  7. Apply the Outlook E-mail Security Administrative Update to this newly created SR-1a administrative installation.

  8. Rename the Data1.msi file on your original SR-1 administrative installation to OldData1.msi.
  9. Copy the Data1.msi file from this newly created SR-1a administrative installation to your original SR-1 administrative installation.
  10. Follow the steps in the next section, "How to Update Network Clients from the Administrative Installation".

How to Update Network Clients from the Administrative Installation

In order to complete the updating process to SR-1a, you must recache the updated Data1.msi file from the administrative installation to your network clients. If you do not perform these steps, you cannot perform a Repair or Reinstall operation on your network client.

To recache the updated Data1.msi file, log on to each network client, and then follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run. Type a command line similar to the following in the Open box:

    Admin Path\Setup.exe /fv Data1.msi

    where Admin Path is the path to your original SR-1 administrative installation that was just updated to SR-1a.
  2. Click OK when the installation is finished.
  3. Click Yes if you are prompted to restart your computer.
