This article was previously published under Q266147

SUMMARY

If a Configuration Connection Agreement is deleted from the Active Directory Connections container in Active Directory, configuration information does not replicate properly between Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 and Active Directory. If this behavior occurs, you can create a new Configuration Connection Agreement.

MORE INFORMATION

The Configuration Connection Agreement is created upon installation of the Site Replication Service. Therefore, a new Configuration Connection Agreement is created when you create a new Site Replication Service.

To create a new Configuration Connection Agreement, follow these steps:

NOTE: These steps refer to the following server names:

Server1: Exchange 2000 Server with a Site Replication Service and the deleted Configuration Connection Agreement

Server2: Exchange 2000 Server in the same administrative group without a Site Replication Service installed

  1. Install a Site Replication Service on Server2:
    1. In the Exchange System Manager Microsoft Management Console snap-in, on the Tools menu, right-click Site Replication Services.
    2. Click New, and then click Site Replication Service.
    3. When prompted for an Exchange Server 5.5 computer, select Server1.
  2. Remove the Site Replication Service from Server1 by right-clicking the Site Replication Service object, and then clicking Delete.
  3. Install a Site Replication Service on Server1:

    1. In the Exchange System Manager Microsoft Management Console snap-in, on the Tools menu, right-click Site Replication Services.
    2. Click New, and then click Site Replication Service.
    3. When prompted for an Exchange Server 5.5 computer, click Server2.
  4. Remove the temporary Site Replication Service from Server2 that you created in step 1 by right-clicking the Site Replication Service object, and then clicking Delete.
The Configuration Connection Agreement and Site Replication Service should now work properly.
