IntelliPoint: Pointer Disappears When You Send an E-mail Message (266138)

SYMPTOMS

If you use Microsoft Word 2000 as the e-mail editor in Microsoft Outlook 2000, the pointer may disappear when you send an e-mail message.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if both of the following conditions are true:
  • The Vanish feature of the IntelliPoint software is enabled.
  • You press CTRL+S on the keyboard to send an e-mail message.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, click Send to send an e-mail message.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

To work around this issue, disable the Vanish feature in the IntelliPoint software:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Mouse.
  3. Use the appropriate method for your version of the IntelliPoint software.

    IntelliPoint 3.0 and Later

    On the Pointer Options tab, click to clear the Hide pointer while typing check box under Vanish.

    IntelliPoint 2.x

    On the Visibility tab, click to clear the Hide pointer while typing check box under Vanish.
  4. Click OK.
