This article was previously published under Q266135 SYMPTOMS
When you use one of the pointing devices listed at the beginning of this
article in Microsoft Word 97 or Microsoft Word 2000, both the horizontal
and vertical scroll boxes may move at the same time when you use the wheel
on the pointing device to scroll through a document.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you use the wheel to scroll when the pointer
is positioned over the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of a Word 97
or a Word 2000 document.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, move the pointer into the body of the document or
over the vertical scroll bar, and then use the wheel to scroll through the
document.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
