BUG: BackOffice Setup Erroneously Reports that Full-Text Search is Installed (266124)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft SQL Server 7.0
- Microsoft BackOffice Server 4.5
This article was previously published under Q266124
BUG #: 19336 (Backofficev41)
SYMPTOMS
When you install Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 from the Microsoft BackOffice 4.5 setup or you install Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 and select a typical SQL Server installation, the Full-Text Search is not installed by default. However, after a successful installation of SQL Server 7.0 (without installing Full-Text Search), if you decide to install the Full-Text Search by using the BackOffice 4.5 custom setup, you are not allowed to do so.
CAUSE
If you expand the SQL Server 7.0, Server Components in the BackOffice Custom Installation dialog box, note that the Full-Text Search option is selected and dimmed, falsely indicating that the service has been installed.
WORKAROUND
You can use the SQL Server installation routine to install the Full-Text Search. To do this, locate and then run the following file from the BackOffice CD-ROM(2):
\SQL70\Machine_platform\Setup\Setupsql.exe
The Setupsql.exe file searches for installed components, and then a Select Components dialog box appears. The Full-Text Search is not selected in the Select Components dialog box. Select the Full-Text Search check box, and then continue the installation.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in BackOffice version 4.5.
